Yesterday, as part of the POTA event “Support Your Parks,” I was out in nature again and activated the park DE-1128 “Moosheide Nature Reserve” on the 20-meter band using SSB. This event takes place four times a year:
Winter – 3rd Full Weekend of January. January 17-18, 2026
Spring – 3rd Full Weekend of April. April 18-19, 2026
Summer – 3rd Full Weekend of July. July 18-19, 2026
Autumn – 3rd Full Weekend of October. October 17-18, 2026
After about two hours of operation, I had a total of 32 QSOs in the log and worked 12 different countries (all in Europe). I used a Xiegu G90 transceiver connected to a mobile antenna (HVT-100). The transmit power was set to 5 watts, and even with that I was able to leave a very strong signal with many of the stations I contacted. The power supply was provided by a 6 Ah LiFePOâ‚„ battery, and I logged the QSOs using the Ham2K Portable Logger app on my iPad. In the photo you can see my setup and my “big” radio wagon. LOL.
